Butterfly Garden Quilt Pattern
Everyone loves butterflies. They bring beauty to our world. They represent new life and re-birth. And butterfly quilts have been popular for centuries. This pattern is based on a vintage quilt I saw at a flea market many years ago. I’ve included the template for the butterfly wings and body and instructions for making your own modern butterfly quilt.
This pattern is for a twin 64 by 92 inches, but you could easily adjust the size by using fewer blocks or adding more. Four blocks would make a baby quilt, fifteen blocks would make a throw, thirty -six would make a queen, one would make a pillow...you are limited only by your own imagination.
This pattern is beginner friendly. I often teach it to groups of children. They have fun picking out fabrics for the wings and use school glue sticks and freezer paper to do the applique.
